Its ‘Tech Tuesday’ and today FHB is looking at the drone
system.
A drone/unmanned-aircraft vehicle system(UAV) is a powered aerial
vehicle that does not carry a human operator, uses aerodynamic forces to
provide vehicle lift, and is piloted remotely while carrying a load. This
system is also called a remotely-piloted
aerial vehicle(RPAV). In lay man terms, this drone is simply a flying
object that is piloted by a person remotely.
Originally, unmanned aircrafts were built for security
purposes. With missiles mounted on the aircraft, the drones are then piloted
remotely to places that are known to be dangerous and the missile deployed to
the said location before the ground forces move in.
With the advancement in
technology, drones were then developed for civilian use with a clear difference
between that meant for military and that meant for civilian use.
In a bubbling city as congested as Lagos, there are many
instances where drones will surely come in handy. From the transportation
of objects from one place to another to
aerial views for music videos or movie
shoots, the drone is proven to be economical and finds application in virtually
every facet of our lives. The cameras mounted on the drone transmits whatever
is captured via wireless transfer to the mother device that is operated by the
drone pilot.
With the advancement in crime rates, we in FHB look forward
to a Nigeria where the police outfit would have access to the best gadgets to
help it carry out its responsibilities and perhaps modern devices like the
