Today on wild Wednesday, we discuss the most mysterious area
on Earth,
the greatest unsolved mystery of the modern age, the BermudaTriangle also
called the devil’s triangle. The mystery surrounding this area is one
that is still begging to be solved. Join me on this ride.
The Bermuda Triangle is a triangular-shaped area in the North
Atlantic Ocean, from Bermuda Island to Miami, Florida to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
It has an area of over 440,000 miles of sea and within this area, hundreds of
people and numerous boats, ships and planes have disappeared WITHOUT TRACE with the disappearances mainly taking place
around the southern boundary of the Bermuda Triangle between Puerto Rico and
Florida.
The first person to report about the Bermuda Triangle was
Christopher Columbus. In his journal on October 8 1492, he wrote that
in the location which is now known as the Bermuda Triangle, his ship’s compass stopped
working and upon looking up, he saw a fireball in the sky. To further buttress
Columbus’ point, it is known that the Bermuda Triangle is one of places on
Earth where the compass doesn’t point to the Magnetic(compass) North but points
to the True(Geographic) North therefore planes and ships whose compasses
normally read Magnetic North begin to malfunction when inside the Triangle. As a
result, the Pilots and Captains of these vessels are thrown into confusion and
end up going off course.
Investigations from past events also have it that for any
plane or ship that disappears in the Triangle, its debris is never found. Some attribute
this phenomenon to the fact that the Gulf Stream which runs near the Triangle
quickly acts and gets rid of the debris while others ascribe the disappearances
to UFO’s, alien activities, City of Atlantis lost under the Triangle and to
technical reasons.
The last school of thought are those who feel that the
mysterious disappearance is as a result of the fact that the devil lives in
this Triangle and hence they dubbed it the devil’s triangle.
Whichever school of thought you may choose to believe, one
common fact is that the mystery surrounding this location is one that begs to
be solved.
