Pushing our wild instincts into the ocean, today we show you
the section of the Gulf of Alaska where 2 oceans meet.
Most of you are already familiar with this location and the
cause but for the benefits of those who do not understand this awesome act of
nature, we explore the Gulf.
In lay man terms, the boundary or line you see above shows
the point where 2 oceans meet but in the real sense, this phenomenon occurs
when heavy sediment-laden water from glacial valleys and rivers empty into the
ocean giving a line or boundary at the point where the darker slate blue water
meets the light blue water.
Upon studying the works of Ken Bruland, a Professor of Ocean
sciences at University of California-Santa Cruz, he made us understand in clear
terms that these 2 types of water do eventually mix but you still come across
these strong boundaries at some specific moments in time. He further explained
that borders such as these are actually not static but move around and
disappear altogether depending on the level of sediments and whims of the
water.
This phenomenon on the Gulf of Alaska surely shows the beauty
and uniqueness of nature.
